Pre-cut
Log Corners
Granite State Forest Products, Inc. can save you time and money by
pre-cutting your log corners for you. We do this by cutting corners
on a specific number of logs, varying in length, that you purchase
from us as part of your log home kit or linear length order. When
you build the walls of your log home, you use the pre-cut corner logs
as needed. You will be surprised at the labor this saves! Labor is
time is money! Granite State Forest Products, Inc. sales staff can
help you calculate how many corner pieces you need. Granite State
Forest Products, Inc. offers all the popular corner styles: Butt and
Pass, Saddlenotch, and Dovetail.

Milled
Logs
Granite State Products, Inc. produces log home logs of various
sizes and shapes. All logs are milled from Eastern White
Pine. Traditional logs, milled from rough sawn timbers, remain one
of the most popular alternatives for log home construction. These
logs appeal to people who prefer a more rustic appearance than siding
or brick While readily available from many sources, there can
be a huge difference in the grade, milling quality and structural
integrity of these logs. Granite State Forest Products sells only
graded grade stamped logs that meet nationally recognized structural
standards and our own critical appearance and milling specifications.
Log home logs can be purchased wholesale either green or kiln dried.
They can also be purchased as part of a log home package or in linear
length. See Log Home Packages for more details on these options and
for a access to our wholesale price lists.

Log
Siding
Granite State Forest
Products has perfectly duplicated the rugged beauty of a full-log
home using log siding. Any home, any style, or any size can be constructed
or remodeled to look just like a log structure. We produce log siding
to match our logs as well one that is an inch thicker then our normal
log siding profile, (3 x 8). Granite State Forest Products' log siding
is a uniquely developed for application on frame built structures
where a real log appearance is desired. We use solid Eastern White
Pine siding with a high profile pattern for a true round log appearance.
The pattern of our log siding allows the siding to be blind nailed
thus hiding unsightly nail heads. It can be applied to new or existing
frame structures with minimal construction experience.
False Corner Options for Siding Application
Granite
State Forest Products, Inc. produces a variety of false corner styles
for use with our log siding. Log siding combined with false corners
give the illusion of a solid log structure. True log corner extensions
have been developed to match our log siding so that when applied everything
fits into place. Full round and rough cut vertical corners can
also be used when applying log siding.
Unmatched
Quality Granite State Forest Products' log siding is
manufactured with strict quality control standards and is kiln dried.

Timber
and Dimensional Lumber
Granite
State Forest Products, Inc. produces various timber profiles for use
in your building projects. Granite State Forest Products specializes
in wholesale of Eastern White Pine lumber and timber ranging in different
sizes and grades. Granite State Forest Products, Inc. Kilns are used
to dry about 75% of the products that Granite State Forest Products,
Inc. produces; however, large timbers for timber frame structures
do best if not kiln dried. They dry more ‘gently’ in place.
Timbers and logs do not shrink in length as they dry. They shrink
in width. If you build a log home with green logs, the walls will
shrink in height more then one built with kiln dried logs; however,
since timbers do not shrink in length, the shrinkage of timbers has
no impact on the structural integrity of the building. Therefore,
we do not normally dry large timbers used in timber frame roofs or
timber frame homes. This will also save about 8 weeks of drying time
and expense.

Replicated Antique Barn Timbers
Antique
reclaimed Hand Hewn Barn Timbers are present in 100 to 200 year old
barns, where, at the time of construction, sawmills where not plentiful.
These antique hand hewn beams are the oldest form of antique beams
from barns. A hand axe was used by our ancestors to create what
is now considered the most sought after antique building material.
These antique beams show the original traces of every axe cut making
it very unique.
The past
comes alive in these vintage used barn timbers as new life is breathed
into the reclaimed rustic lumber, barn boards and wood beams. Antique
reclaimed lumber is prized for its beauty and its dry, stable and
dense nature. This antique wood is perfect for applications in timber
frames, architectural trusses, open beam ceilings, exposed headers,
and hand hewn beams,
Unfortunately,
antiqued reclaimed timbers are scarce and very expensive. Granite
State Forest Products, Inc. has a solution: Replicated Antique Barn
Timbers. Our trained and certified mill workers hand hewn each log
with care and craftsmanship, replicating original antique barn timbers.
They drill peg holes and bore mortises into the timbers so that they
look like they have come from a barn structure. The timbers are then
given an antique look with various colors of stain. Staining can be
custom applied to coordinate with the other wood material in their
targeted application. If desired, the timbers can be left nude and
allowed to weather/age naturally.
Granite
State Forest Products, Inc. manufactures Replicated Antiqued Barn
Timbers of various sizes and lengths. Call Jeff or Amanda for available
sizes and wholesale prices at 1-800-944-7228 or email
them at jeff@gsfp.com or Amanda@gsfp.com.

Home and Log Cabin Accessories
Choosing
the right products for your log cabin or log home can help preserve
your dream for a lifetime. Choosing the wrong products can cause you
to spend hours preserving, staining, and sealing your log cabin or
log home, only to see the products you used fail. Some products are
just not made for log structures or are not formulated to work together.
We have compiled a list of the most commonly used log home accessories
and their wholesale prices. For a password to our list and wholesale
prices, please email Amanda@gsfp.com
or call us at 1-800-944-7228.
For
instance, some preservatives can discolor wood, causing a lasting
effect on the stain's appearance. Stains with waxes or other additives
can interfere with caulk or chinking adhesion, leaving cracks and
checks. Stains that are not elastic will crack and peel when logs
unavoidably move (from surface expansion and contraction due to moisture
and temperature changes). Using the wrong caulks, those not formulated
to adhere well to logs or to absorb log movement, can lead to loss
of adhesion, tears, and sealant failure.
It pays
to know which products fit together to effectively protect your home.
Granite State Forest Products, Inc. only sell products that are formulated
to work together to clean, preserve, stain, protect and seal you log
structure. We sell or recommend the products that give your log structure
the beauty and protection it deserves.

Log
Grading Program
Logs
to be used in log home construction are graded according to strict
requirements established by the Log Home Council. The purpose of visual
stress grading of house logs is to provide designers of log homes
and commercial buildings the allowable stress values they require
to build a safe and economical structure that meets the requirements
of the nation's building codes.
Structural
integrity as well as cosmetic standards are checked by the grader.
Graders are certified by the Log Home Council by written exam and
demonstrating the process to a certified Log Home Council member.
The grading process is periodically audited by a specialist from the
Log Home Council. Graders must go through a re-certification process
on a regularly scheduled basis.
